In riposte to the March 17, 2009 PDI article Bloody Murder, it leaves me in awe why of all unresolved carnages cases, the Dacer-Corvito slaying took precedence over other more important killings.
I am not saying though that their death has no relevance (for no one deserve such a ghastly demise no matter who you are and what you have done) nor rather has its significance to the lives of Filipino people in general. At this point and time where almost everyone is experiencing and suffering from the end result of the current global crisis, I could hardly understand, why after so many years, said case had been instantaneously resurrected. Government’s effort (with so much expenditures involved) (politically or otherwise motivated) to prioritize giving justice to the annihilation of Dacer and Corvito is somewhat overstated sending a negative impression to the integrity of its purpose to convict the mastermind, selectively pinpointing to Senator Lacson as the perpetrator, who we all knew has an endless dispute with Malacanang’s big bosses. It is but right for the killers to pay for their crime. Nonetheless, at this moment, any action enforce is very untimely just as the untimely death of the two victims. Isn’t it too late for the administration to take steps and show a great deal of concern only now?
It is often said Justice delayed is Justice denied – Perhaps, if only, we are not aware of the feuds going on between the concerned parties engaged in this state of affairs, we have legitimate issue to settle and fight for. We are not innocent and stupid kids to go along with whatever games our public officials (elected or appointed) wanted us to play with! I do really sympathize with the victim’s families.
Losing a love one leaves an excruciating pain in our hearts. But, it pains me more had such instance been used just to delight the whim and wet the appetite of an adversary defeating the sacredness of its purpose. I still believe, in time, without the doubts, truth and justice will take its toll… In HIS time…
